Senior Staff Accountant

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of efficiency while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP. Essential duties and responsibilities are the month-end close process maintaining the integrity and accuracy of its general ledger, including sub ledger to ledger reconciliations and account reconciliations cash/credit card reconciliation, recording of cash activity, and check payment processing.  The month-end close process is fluid and will need to be improved through the evolution of the billing process, as we continue to learn the business and as we continue to learn new ERP system. The Senior Staff Accountant is also responsible for the creation of the monthly P&L Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows review . This includes using variance analysis to identify unusual trends and missing journal entries, investigation of fluctuations using the ERP system, and documentation of findings.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Process journal entries for month-end close

Help design new month-end close procedures with

Assist with administrative functions with the new ERP system

Report writing in the new ERP system

Create accounting schedules & balance sheet reconciliations

Code cash activity

Prepare monthly accruals and prepaid expenses

Analyze discrepancies and research and close reconciling items 

Other tasks as assigned by the  Controllers

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

At least 5 years of related experience

ERP implementation experience 

Report writing//experience with ERP administrative functions

Hands on general ledger experience

Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and evenings

Willingness to travel to the business units in Allentown, PA and Lakeland, FL periodically

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Accounting experience in Government Contracting a plus

Excellent Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word

 QuickBooks experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

Ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment

Sedentary work not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
